folds of honorOur boys golf team along with Coach Tom O’Donnell sponsored the Folds of Honor golf tournament on May 7th at the Country Club of Darien.  The team did an outstanding job raising over $4,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation that provides educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled veterans. Thank you gentlemen, for your care of our larger community!

Seven students from Darien High School attended DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) from April 24-28th.  The conference and competition included top performing students from all fifty United States, U.S. Territories and nine foreign countries with over 18,000 DECA members attending.  Students from DHS attended workshops and participated in the organization’s competitive events program which is designed to simulate real-life business scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skills development.

Cooper Drippe and Luke Sheridan competed in Financial Services Team Decision Making.  After placing first at the Connecticut state competition, they continued on until reaching the final round in Orlando by placing in the top 16 of all teams in the category. Congratulations to Cooper and Luke!

Our wonderful staff in the Cafeteria provide more than just meals to our students…Eleanor and Geraldine got in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo. Thank you to the hard-working members of our family in the very busy cafe!

Congratulations to Darien High School graphic design students who won first and second place in the Darien Chamber of Commerce “Going Green” contest. Well done, gentlemen!

Darien High School hosted our first ever Quiz Bowl Connecticut State Championship on April 11.  Faculty team advisor Dan Record and several team members managed all arrangements for the 14-team event with most DHS Quiz Bowl team members serving as readers and scorekeepers during the tournament. Team Co-Captain Michael Borecki was the highest individual scorer at the event.The DHS Quiz Bowl A team will be traveling to Chicago on May 29, along with Mr. Record, to play in the National Championship, which annually attracts over 100 of the top teams from across the nation. We are proud of all of you, and wish you the best of luck in Chicago! (Just watch out for hosts named Alex Trebek…)
